Very well, I guess. Though I’d like to point out that, even in your headcannon, that could still easily lead to the two seeing the other as a sibling, considering that Twilight was Celestia’s student, and thus likely had her own role in raising Spike in either scenario, not to mention that Celestia would absolutely encourage such a dynamic between the two.

Yep. I still prefer early outdated plot where Spike was raised by Celestia, not by Twilight’s family.

Still though, it doesn’t mean I am against how creators decided to build Twi and Spike relationship in new canon. That’s fine. Unlike many many other things in show they made since Lauren Faust’s departure…

It’s not question about how two persons look from outside point of view, but how they see each other themselves. It means there’s possibility Spike and Twilight didn’t see each other as siblings in old canon, and I simply support that idea. In the same way as I support the idea how Rainbow and Scootaloo see each other as named sisters, that’s what I supported since first seasons.

About Spike and fillies - i’m not talking about ‘now’. Of course romantic relationships don’t fit with their age at all (that’s my opinion).
It is about when they grow up, obviously.

And in case of Twilight and Spike, they have many hundreds years ahead. :)
