They’re 3D models. It’s fine to have lazy shortcuts in 2D animation where characters have copy-pasted faces, but CG is less forgiving of such things. They did a really good job, as their facial structures are very distinct. You can get rid of their manes and colors, and I would still be able to tell whose side profile I’m looking at.
