Feature suggestions and discussion [READ THE FIRST POST]

I think I like the idea of it giving a warning if an artist is on the DNP, even if they’re on the “do not post ever” part of it. And if they’re on one of the special case part of the list, maybe it could list what section they’re under, or any comments associated with that username on the list?  
That might be annoying to do though.

Its one of the most basic things an art site could have, and not anymore “hurtful” than downvotes or anymore “e-pene-ish” than the badge system that the site already has.

It won’t because people just won’t tag the artist. Also (with 0 data to back this up) I think most dnp that gets posted is pay content.

It’s mostly deviantart artists that come on and report all their artwork because they didn’t want it reposted.

There’s probably a good reason for this, but why can’t it say “x number of pics hidden” when you search something?

Because it’s not been done yet. And it won’t be until K_A finishes his work.

I just mainly use my Spoilered Everything filter to see how many images get hidden on my regular filter (which generally amounts to “how much porn is there?”)

This is sort of a half-question half-request. Is there a way to see just upvotes on the search page and homepage instead of the cumulative score, and if not, can I request that as an option?
 
Also too I’d like to put my hand up in favor of the “how many people watch this tag” thing. Yes I know I suggested it way back when, but since it was mentioned and I’m here anyways…

The former is a thing we might consider.
 
The latter… the data exists and it can probably be shown to users in some way, but I’m still unconvinced it will provide much use, mainly because of how the watchlist is used (how many people actually use it regularly, why someone would add an artist to it vs. regular searches, etc.). If one of the coders has the time and will to implement it, I guess there’s nothing stopping them.

Ha, the former’s something I tried to do with Greasemonkey but I absolutely suck at it. The most I could manage was making “Derpibooru” say “Hello World!”
 
My big interest in the latter is that this is the only place I post stuff. Believe me, coming in from a site that does have the feature like Tumblr or DA it’s something you really take for granted and really miss when Tumblr deletes your blog [bitter grumbling]

Just display the watchers for all the tags except artist tags.

Hmm…I can see this idea having many flaws, but I thought that I might suggest it anyway.
 
When someone hides a tag, perhaps it should remove all downvotes that they’ve ever placed on images with that tag? We’re always bemoaning the fact that people downvote good art simply because they don’t like something in it (be it the artist or a fetish). But on the occasions that someone has a change of heart and decides to simply stop being mad and hide the tag, why not have a means of perhaps slightly lessening the damage they’ve done? I’m sure that there’d be one or two crazies who’d simply refuse to hide a tag knowing this, but at the end of the day, that would be just one or two downvotes. I’d think most users on this site would be a little more rational (yes, yes, I just said that, let it come back to bite me in the ass later).
 
I was just thinking of how many well-drawn diaper pics I’ve downvoted in my time here and was feeling a bit bad.

That’s conflating two different value judgements into one response, though, without any review. If seeing a trashy 1000 hours in ms paint image of a fetish makes someone realize they don’t want to see any more of that fetish, that trash image still deserves the downvote. If someone downvotes a slew of meme images because they’re also needs more jpeg garbage, the relative garbageosity of the images remains unchanged if they later decide they’ve had buckin’ well enough of memes and hide the tag entirely.

Then perhaps exceptions should be made because in this case, as mentioned at the bottom, I’m mostly thinking about fetishes and specific artists. For example, votes could be removed from those types of pictures, but NOT ones where the tag “1,000 hours” or “meme” is.
 
Like I said, not a perfect system, but since we’ve been looking for a solution to this sort of thing for a while…

This might have been suggested before, but I think it’d be useful with some kind of pool feature for comics and image series; much like they have on e621. It’s much easier for the uploader to well… upload a comic and/or image series plus the homepage won’t be clogged up with several pages from a single comic.

Can’t users just ask mods to wipe their votes on certain tags? I think I’ve seen that happen in IRC before… I think…

We can wipe your votes entirely, but we aren’t happy doing it on-demand and doing it on a specific tag is a lot of work.

Why is that? Are tag-specific votes categorized in such a way that it would have to be done by hand, one image at a time?

We have nothing in place to restrict how votes are wiped (besides up vs. down) when doing a mass-wipe, so yes.

Maybe it could be possible to add an additional “user:upvote” filter when searching for images.
