We got a short a bit ago that featured a young Rocky and Freckle. I think we’re gonna get another short soon with a young Ivy. Not sure about full episodes, or about new pages for the comic—we’ll see if Tracy is ever up for it again.

I don’t worry as much whether it’s popular or not as much as I worry that making it more niche may make it more ripe for snobbery and elitism like jazz currently is.

Like, in terms of not being as popular but still having an audience, that’s one thing. But jazz specifically also has a lot of elitism and snobbery,and musicians tend to be more focused on technical proficiency and paying tribute to The Classics than on having fun and just writing good songs. And I’m already afraid that rock is going down that route.

Whenever people say “I think now that rock isn’t as popular, it will become more like jazz,” I have to resist the temptation to grab them by the shoulders and shake them and shout, “THAT’S NOT A GOOD THING! DO YOU REALIZE HOW THAT’S NOT A GOOD THING?!”

Oh man, R.I.P. I know the Denny Laine era of the Moody Blues is usually ignored (they were a very different beast during his time, and the band as we know them really started after he left and was replaced with Justin Hayward), but they still wouldn’t have existed without him, as would Wings, with him being the only permanent member in the group alongside the McCartneys.
