It appears it doesn’t work anymore as it takes you to ‘Forbidden’. Or I’m missing something.

One more detail: you can even edit “-pre.jpg” to “.png”. It actually works here, while I don’t recommend it when original file is jpg. (extremely rarely it may reduce size of one side by 1 px, though)
 
Also you can edit stuff on the link of the image from step 2, w/o looking into page code.

Previously if you viewed a Deviantart image seperately (ie. Open Image in New Tab or View Image) it would give you a url that, when uploaded to Derpi, would net a larger image than just inputing the page url. While DA still shows you this larger image, Derpi will now upload the smaller one from the art page even if that’s not the url you uploaded. DA art with a download button is unaffected by this - use the page url for these.
 
With some searching through the page source you can get a link to an ‘original’ image. This image is too small as well, but you can change its dimensions up to what you could get by right-clicking, plus set its quality. It sometimes also removes the Deviantart watermark. These dimensions are still smaller than what the artist originally uploaded to DA but you can’t increase them further.
 
Step 1: Click on the art until it’s as large as possible. Right click, Open Image in New Tab or View Image. Use DA’s fullscreen mode if you don’t see these options.
 
Step 2: Again, click on this image until it’s as large as possible. Find and this image’s dimensions by right clicking, Inspect or Inspect Element. Write them down somewhere.
 
Step 3:Go back to the DA page. Use View Page Source. Search for og:image. Copy this link. It will look like this:

Step 4: Change the dimensions (here w_894,h_894) to what you have written down. Change quality (here q_70) to q_100. Sometimes dimensions or quality aren’t there - I assume they’re at 100%.
 
Step 5: Upload your modified url.
 
Is this too much effort? Very much so. If anyone has a better way to do this I’d love to hear it.
