I remember posters from anime magazines from the late 90s and early 2000s showing Pokemon squaring of against Digimon. At one I thought Digimon would totally kick the a- of Pokemon. But in the end, Pokemon has more presence worldwide than Digimon would ever have. But, I have respect for both franchises.
Anyone know of such poster, I’ve mentioned? Or something like that?

I memory of it is pretty sketchy itself. All I could remember is that it had Palmon using poison ivy on Executtor.

Well Pokemon’s long rival. Is Digimon in a way both could never prosper without the other. But Pokemon has been lasting a long time and it keeps going. Digimon I don’t know if it’s still around or what.

Pokemon did have numerous other rivals in the past and even now. Monster Ranchers, YuGiOh, Duel Masters, etc.
While were at. What do you think the IP that EA was rambling about, being a “rival to be” franchise that they’re going pit against Pokemon? Whatever it is, I think its foolish for them, a FPS/Sports game company, to compete against GameFreaks on that field.

Do you think they’re going to bring back contests? Believe it or not, no Gen 5 Pokemon are able to participate in any contests.

Somehow I find it a little doubtful. Contests are… I dunno. A bit too complex, I guess.
The two big complaints about Contests are these:

- that they’re often more about the luck of the RNG instead of strategy
- that they require raising Pokemon almost exclusively for Contests only
The former I never encountered much (since I never tried Contests too much) but the latter is big, big, big-big. If you ever went into a Contest and your Pokemon had a typical moveset for battling or something, it was doubtful you were going to do well. So you had to either take a hackwrench to your Pokemon’s moveset, thus making it less useful for traveling, or you had to train new Pokemon specifically for Contests and Contests only.
To be fair I only ever tried Contests in RSE (I never bothered with Super Contests), but I think the problems are generally the same.
Scary Butt Fun
Contests were great fun in gen 3 and offered a strong new element to the game, allows you to train different Pokemon in different ways.
In gen 4 they screwed it up by adding a pointless dancing part for the sake of there 3 parts to it.
