As the person who started using those tags, I would suggest no since transfeminine and transmasculine are not the same as trans woman/man (respectively). There’s a few instances in those tags where a character is labeled as transfeminine/transmasculine and nonbinary, for example.

In cases where a character is stated to be both transmasculine/feminine and a trans man/woman or it is unclear/unsaid, both tags can be applied.

I think the idea was that rainbow power was going to be a little more broad at first, covering stuff like the mane six’s rainbow along with the power up, but I don’t think that distinction stuck.

I know I had it in my head at one point that rainbow power-ified should be used for characters aside from the mane six getting the rainbow power, I know I brought that up a long time ago, but I don’t know that stuck either.

Is there any difference between streetlight and street lamp? The images don’t seem to make any distinction.

In my mind they are somewhat distinct by the shapes of the fixtures and supporting hardware. These are just my mental imageries, not official use of terminology:

I envision “lamp”s to be round or faceted glass and mildly old-timey or a modern spin on the same design goals. I envision “posts” to be shorter, around one story tall, compared to poles, which might be more like 2 stories tall. And, a lightpost would be tall and have non-lanp-like fixtures, whether they’re modern downward-facing hemispherical lights or a grid of projecting lights as for a stadium. In a lightpole I still envision a more modern version yet still with light(s) on top of a shorter pole, without an overarching bar like a streetlight.

Of course, these impressions are not codified into tag definitions, at present.

What’s the difference between alternate design and redesign?

The way I see it: alternate = a temporary, “what if” look (assuming the char’s yours, at least mostly).

redesign = a permanent new look OR the way you imagine some other char to look. Like, a different alternate universe version of Luna, for ex.

I wish Pinkamena and Pinkamina were two separate tags, all that’s left of her is creepypasta.

For transformation images (non-sequence in particular), are there tags either for mid-TF or post-TF scenes? The kind of images where characters visibly morph is kinda icky to me, but the other stuff tagged as transformation can be neat, so I don’t wanna filter it all out.

I don’t think so. If there were, they would be listed in the “implied by” section of the transformation tag. The only somewhat relevant tag is transformation sequence.

I also have trouble filtering only the kind of transformation that I don’t like. I ended up filtering it completely, but it’s overkill. For example this is the kind of transformation that I don’t mind seeing:

I spent some time thinking about what is different between transformation images that I like and those I don’t like and it turns out it’s hard to describe. The closest I got to describing it is that transformation images I don’t like look like fetish art to me. Like they aren’t just meant to depict transformation, but to depict it in a special way.

Yeah I’m cool with those kinds you show. It’s indeed that more standard fetishy depiction that I don’t like, where you have body parts that are hybrid before/after and uneven. It feels like body horror to me, when I kinda just care about what happens before and after, if at all. I wish there was a way to filter those out while keeping the “poof! transformed” or post-TF kind of images.

You know I personally find that transformation stuff really intriguing. Well, when it’s done right, at least. The idea of say, having a pony’s body and seeing the process of it becoming to be, hoof, tail, wings, etc… it’s honestly amazing to think about.

But like all things, sometimes it can be weird.

Do wish they were more widely applied though. Also it doesn’t really differentiate between the different transformation types that I elaborated on later. Like I see it includes stuff like these

Edit: maybe I could get away with filtering out “human to pony” and the like, maybe some complex filter stuff along that line too

I think we could use a separate tag for those weird, fetish-like transformations. I just don’t know what to name it. I wonder if some furry pages have encountered the same problem and invented a name for it?

Further complicated when adding things like my Watercolor transforming her feathers to swords, as part of her monster power. Nothing fetishy about it, though.

Other than “wingding eyes”, and not counting when it’s meant to indicate crying in anime styles, does the larger internet art community have a name for the artstyle feature of unusually-shaped ooey gooey blobby melty eyes?

Examples:

Apart from “colored eyelashes”, is there a name for the artstyle feature of having the color of the eye sclera extend out into the eyelashes, as if the artist used a smudge tool to draw the eyelashes?

In either case, do you think it’s a noteworthy feature worth tagging?

I think there’s nothing wrong with tagging these, but I have no idea how to name those tags.

I am somewhat bothered by extremely blobby eyes, but not enough to filter them, as I still like some images with them. However I can see why someone else might want to completely filter them out.

It’s definitely worth having a tag for, since it’s kinda visually offputting and wingding eyes is a completely different thing that shouldn’t have to do double duty. Maybe blobby eyes?

It’s reminiscent of “Gothic Kawaii”, or “Kauai Noir”. Kind of like in pillow books.

Sometimes also called “Pastel Goth” style, or “Yami Kawaii” or “Guro Kawaii.”

It often features oversized eyes, frequently conflicting pastel colors, and implications of illness or injury, or overwhelming internal sadness. It’s sometimes used to explore and express complex emotions or societal issues.

If you haven’t read Junko Mizuno, highly recommended. You’ll never look at some of those big eyes ponies that are being uploaded the same.

Unfortunately, I don’t know a name or term for the eyes themselves. I’ll ask some friends to see if they know.
