I kind of regret making this one, now that I’m a Christian.

I’d feel safer if I saw the body.
That’s what I think, too.
@Dogman15
Maybe that’s just how Moses interpreted it. God might’ve said it took seven days and Moses thought that God was talking about an earth day. They didn’t know much about astronomy way back then, so Moses just wrote what he thought God was trying to say.
@illuminati
Not necessarily. If there was a dead planet roaming around in the darkness of space between galaxies, one rotation would still be considered a day for that planet. Not to mention there are places on earth where, during certain times of year, it is constantly light or dark 24 hours a day.
A day has a period of light and a period of dark, so that doesn’t work.
Moses wrote of “evening and morning”, and the Hebrew word yom (day) is dependent on context, so in that context, it would mean “a normal 24 hour day”.
I always figured it meant a “day” from the perspective of god, which is probably 100s of millions of years
Edited
It doesn’t say how long those “days” were, though. A day is calculated by the rotation of a celestial object, but the earth wasn’t formed yet, so it wasn’t calculated by the earth’s time. Earth, in early development, had a different day length than today anyway.
It wasn’t written intended to be interpreted as a metaphor. Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible/Torah intending them to be taken at face value.
Look, I don’t believe in god and both young earth and old-earth creationism involving god to make universe exist.
PS: I don’t have a mood to debate about anything, let alone about religion. So if you try to start a debate, I might respond to you jokingly just like my first comment that reply to you
Edited
you can … disprove the idea that the universe was created? really? i’m curious now.
You confused? please check that I used “:P” emoticon. That mean I am joking not being serious to “voicing my opinion” nor “argue/debate with you”
Although I am more than capable to disprove both young earth and old-earth creationism. But the last thing that I want is another heated debate about religion.
Edited
i’m confused. on one hand, you’re replying to my comment, but on the other hand, you aren’t making any actual points, so there’s nothing for me to reply to. so i’m not sure if you’re trying to argue/debate with me, or just … voicing your opinion and not looking for further discussion?
@Background Pony #8E93
personally i believe in Young-Earth, but there’s no reason someone can’t believe in the Bible and [insert ““scientific”” view] here at the same time :) the first chapter of Genesis isn’t as clear-cut as many skeptics think it is.
What do you mean?
Yeah as much as valid as I am the god of this world and created it within 10 seconds flat :P
Okay.
Could of swore the bible thumpers were gonna invade this post followed by the atheists….
There wasn’t any shitstorm here.
