… no company would just cancel at the last minute.
Warner Bros. begs to differ.

In the case of these two, they simply didn’t order any more episodes/specials after they were released.

TYT was ordered several new episodes and 4 specials and it wasn’t even halfway done, no company would just cancel at the last minute.

The main problem here is that several dozen writers were unable to agree on the development of lore in 2010-2019 while G4 was alive, when comics, children’s books, text stories, publications, TV series and a movie were produced by several hundred employees in different companies subject to Hasbro who doesn’t care. This produces a ton of controversies, contradictions and logical conflicts. This “tradition” continues in today’s G5. Sometimes, with the possible exception of Faust and a couple of others, mediocrity and short-sightedness characterize the writers of both G4 and G5.
The Italian Disney had a similar problem, which an American managed to solve by publishing his world-building work about Scrooge McDuck which was immediately adopted as a reference work for future Disney publications by writers who appreciated the structural framework that makes it easier. For example, the word “Calisota” about the ducks’ homeland (state in the US) was unknown until Don Rosa made this a rule. Now “everyone” knows that the Disney ducks live in Calisota.
When Celestia and Luna came to Equestria, this country was loosely composed of several fiefdoms as discovered in the comics about the pillars and partly confirmed in the TV series, which revealed that Equestria had an aristocracy and intact vassal states as Maretonia, although there is a certain Versallies atmosphere in Canterlot. Aristocrats from all over the country had gathered there, and politically this is not logical - then it must mean that Celestia had introduced compulsory residence for the nobility who must remain in Canterlot as in France. This doesn’t seem to be the case before Discord’s invasion. We have seen in various publications that the royal sisters did not seem to have much power when they were still foals.
According to “The Journal of the Royal Sisters”, these had come from another country, which we now know is Skyros, for upbringing in Equestria - in the Middle Ages it was very common for children to be brought up in other people’s homes and even other countries. Unfortunately, this led to countless family wars when relatives - even siblings - gather over the inheritance of predecessors, who could leave behind enormous wealth. This was important in a feudal system where personal relationships, kinship ties and alliance building were vital.
Starswirl was not only the royal sisters’ teacher, he was from a feudal perspective their foster father. And he didn’t become a foster father just because he wanted to, we know he considered it an obligation. This is called “fosterage”. At the time, it was considered a special honor to be responsible for the upbringing of children, especially royal children, which means that one is given special privileges by the family that gives their child to that person. Kinship ties and a basis for alliance are formed. Starswirl was the royal sisters’ “father”, as we have seen plenty of evidence of.
This means that the alicorns in Skyros attached their two alicorn fillies to Starswirl who represented the ponies’ state of Equestria as a political gesture, which may mean that the ponies accepted Skyros as a superior power to which they had chosen to submit. Because when a family takes on the responsibility of raising a royal child, it is also a sign of acceptance of royalty’s superiority. Skyros and Equestria were not equal when the royal sisters were in foster care, and when these became adults, they were in a way Skyros’ agents in Equestria.
Why it happened is not explained because it is not known what happened between the founding of Equestria and the arrival of the two alicorns. But it is possible that the equestrian officials had realized that they needed a symbolic unifying object that could take the formal power to avoid division between the many fiefdoms. As you know, Discord’s invasion turned the whole situation upside down, opening up a centralization of Equestria into a unitary state. Skyros did not intervene, according to IDW comics, an international coalition had intervened in battle with Discord (and Cosmos). Instead, the arrogant “knights” from Cunabula had appeared, lured by the mysterious Harmony tree in Equestria, and this resulted in a world conflict that set the whole world back.
Skyros was almost forgotten in G4. It is possible that Opaline’s initial attack may have led to Twilight and Spike coming into contact with the alicorns. But, as we saw, Spike did not have good memories of Skyros and from what happened during the second attack, when Opaline with stolen dragon magic was defeated by Twilight. The Skyros alicorns did not intervene. Yet it was seen that they gave away their most potential alicorns to a young and fleeing state, which then represented their interests, possibly in conflict with Sombra from the Crystal Empire.
Why did Skyros stay away when Equestria was going through its greatest crises? Many non-G4 alicorns, which may appear in G5, have the word “Glow” in their names, which brings up the mystery of the mysterious filly Cozy Glow all over again. She was unusually talented with her alicorn powers, she knew the weakness of only having magic, and it was seen in S8-S9 that she did not consider ponies her own people. She looked down at them. We know Cozy Glow’s intended role was rewritten when the script for S9 was being worked on, so there was never any answer as to where she came from. The final scene in S8 shocked many viewers who saw her smiling and evil face, even when she was sent to Tartarus.
When the MYM finale came around, we saw the confrontation between Misty and Opaline - which revealed that the evil alicorn from Skyros has the same ideas as Cozy Glow when it comes to friendship, which can’t be a coincidence. Also, Cozy Glow and Opaline are unusual among ponies with their supernatural hair styles.
Something had happened to Skyros. And the New Mane 6 is on its way there.

Actually, while we’re on the topic, according to The Journal of the Royal Sisters, Celestia and Luna learned “The Royal Canterlot Voice” from other alicorns. This happens before the founding of Equestria, and it seems to imply that Celestia and Luna grew up in Canterlot.
In Castle Mane-ia, Twilight says that The Castle of The Pony Sisters is “thousands” (plural) of years old.
I think after awhile, you sort of repress just how inconsistent the lore was.

In fact, something very strange about this flag is that according to history it was created before Celestia and Luna appeared.

There’s also the Equestrian flag from Hearth’s Warming Eve.

According to this…Celestia’s mane is green while Luna’s is purple. Yeah, definitely sticking to what I said about stylized depictions regardless of what others may say.

I’ll admit I prefer to think of TLP and G5 as a parallel timeline and have my own headcanons for the G4. XD

That misconception still persists to this day, unfortunately. Celestia did not actually have pink hair when she was a filly, that comes from the depiction of her in the book in the pilot. The flashback in FiM’s Season 4 premiere with her banishing Nightmare Moon, something that happens in the book, while she had rainbow hair proves that the book is just stylizing her hair as pink, it wasn’t actually that color.

Enter if you dare
The other day I came across some tweets. That make me think that people say G5 isn’t canon because it went against G4 itself went against. Princess Celestia’s pink mane.
Also constituing g5 is still supposed to be its own thing even if connected to g4, Not being canon would just make it a parallel timeline

Oh, Equestria Daily…
This is a clip from an old episode, not an upcoming episode…
“Upcoming episode focusing primarily on Comet”
“COMET”
That should’ve been an instant giveaway that this was too good to be true.
