Two Mickey Mouse related things I wanted to talk about:
First is I just recently finished Illusion Island,

And I enjoyed it alot; it’s basically Rayman Legends but with Mickey and Friends, the platforming is a lot of fun, animation looks good, there is a bunch of references to classic Mickey cartoons, music sounds amazing, and surprisingly does offer quite the challenges (You can’t attack enemies so all you can do is just avoid getting hit).

And the second was I watched Steamboat Silly

I also really enjoyed this, the new Mickey Mouse cartoons are some of the best to come out in years, Chris Diamantopoulos is such a hilarious voice for Mickey, and this episode in particular is certainly a nice homage to Mickey over the years. Sad to see this series end, but I’m glad it went out on a high note.

Anyone remember the lost Mickey episode?

People complaining about how “Turning Red” was being a little unkind to one of Mei’s aunts, Lily, who was basically the “Meg from Family Guy”. Like telling her to stop talking when she complained about her fur being itchy after they all became pandas? Well, to be fair, they were in the middle of pulling a FIFTY-TON RED PANDA into the ritual circle with only moments of the red moon left (to save her) and so there wasn’t time to whine about it.

You’re right, it wasn’t. It was from Disney. Or, WOULD have been from Disney.

Honestly, I’m surprised in this day and age, people are STILL mistaking every CGI movie as a Pixar movie, even from Dreamworks, Illumination, Warner Bros… even Disney’s own movies like “Wreck-It Ralph” were mistaken for Pixar. Do people still not pay attention to logos in the trailers or posters?!

I would certainly like to see them bring back Gigantic.

They spent so much time building it up and then just canceling it, and I love the Jack and the Beanstalk story; I grew up with the Mickey Mouse version from Fun & Fancy Free.

Lost movies? Color me interested.

I bet Disney would help the movie industry by releasing the three “lost” Pixar movies in theaters.

IDK, just a thought I had because apparently the strike’s still going on, movies are getting removed from their schedules, and I’m worried my theater might shut down pretty soon.

Near the very beginning of “The Rescuers”, Madame Medusa can actually be seen driving a large red sports car to New York City Airport, not unlike the one driven by Cruella DeVil. Originally, the villain of The Rescuers was actually indeed going to be Cruella DeVil! So in fact, that car doesn’t just look like Cruella’s, that car is Cruella’s.

Yes that’s what I’m thinking.

Mei’s “stir the porridge” dance in “Turning Red” was originally part of an exercise routine her mom had her perform to calm down and keep the panda under control, which would’ve been a brick joke.

I think that was suppose to be a parody of John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and other tough cowboys in western films.

I swear, someone at Disney got this animation inspired by Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure:

Then again, he helped make that “Luck” movie after his departure and it got mixed reviews.

Yeah I might tell him, think about what you are doing. Do you realize you are such a beloved figure in animation history. Will you seriously tarnish that for your lusts? Is it worth all the trouble.

If only I could go back in time and tell John Lasseter to keep his hands to himself.

It would have been cool to see more famous video game villains in the Bad-Anon, but I understand getting the rights to certain properties, not to mention adding bad guys from actual arcade games; Bowser and Eggman can be there since they were in arcade games like Mario Kart GP, Mario & Sonic Olympics, SEGASonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic the Fighters.

Maybe the developers just…didn’t get permission, didn’t think of it, or just didn’t like those toys? Who knows? Because I don’t.

One of my favorite things in Kingdom Hearts is when characters change their appearance when entering certain worlds such as:
Atlantica, Halloween Town, Pride Rock, Space Paranoids/The Grid, Timeless River, Monstropolis, and The Caribbean. Some are understandable as Sora and friends need to blend into their environment, but others that aren’t necessary it’s just fun to see what they come up with. That said in my personal opinion, I don’t care for what they did with Toy Box:

I don’t have a problem with Sora, Donald, & Goofy looking like toys, I just think they could have bee a little more creative with the designs and ideas.

I mean after all it’s not like they don’t have toy models with flexible joints they could use.

They could also mix up what kind of toys they are, like one that has body pieces to assemble, plushies, Funko figures, or even one based around Stretch Armstrong.

Considering we had a Silent Hill rail shooter game (yes, instead of coming to terms with your guilt through literal demons (or however that town works), just blow their heads off) I bet we could’ve had Pyramid Head as a member of Bad-Anon.

I remember playing that game when I was growing up, funny I didn’t recall that part but I suppose it was implied as opposed to straight up showing it happen (like in Wreck-It Ralph, which even then was a zombie and not a person)

I should point out that the “Toy Story Animated Storybook” had Buzz finding an arcade game in the Pizza Planet page, we don’t see the game itself but it’s implied to be Mortal Kombat because it had someone ripping out another man’s heart out

Oh what I meant was a Mortal Kombat reference in a children’s book.

Yeah I grew up with old school games thanks to my dad, I remember playing the original Donkey Kong on a ROM for PC.

I’m gonna go see “Haunted Mansion” today, I don’t expect it to be better than the Eddie Murphy version but I like to see for myself (and add to my “see 52 movies in one year” list). But I definitely will be watching the older version with mom for Halloween on Disney+.

Some kids know those things thanks to having geeky parents and relatives who let them play their old games.

My nephew loves “Wrecking Crew.”

I was in my local Wal-Mart and I noticed in the book section they had a junior novel based off Sugar Rush from Wreck-It Ralph

Honestly I’m a little surprised but at the same time I like the idea of Vanellope and her friends going on adventures either in their own world or through the arcade/internet; it could be it’s own tv series, heck sticking with the theme it could be it’s own video game really.

Anyways the novel looks cute, and I like they did actually reference things like Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac-Man, Street Fighter, and even Mortal Kombat (in a children’s book no less)
