All they had to do was fire Ted Anderson and it would have saved so much shit. I’m absolutely amazed that no one ever calls him out for his bullshit or makes fun of him at the cons he manages to weasel his way into.

You can look up “cuteosphere drama” if you really want to know because the net has plenty of info, but it’s one of those things that’ll only make you feel sad and dirtied.
You’ll get caught up in a pointless teenage boys vs Tumblr misandrists shitfight, on the side of people you don’t really care all that much for, and it doesn’t help that the person you’re trying to read and evaluate is someone who’d stab a person, run, then suddenly stop and wonder why all those people are chasing her and demand that they stop.
Cuteo is basically one of those Tumblrinas who buys into that special SJW brand of FAKE feminism which claims that

Until about 2 years ago Cuteo is a pony artist with decent skill (though already injecting too much personal life and political agenda into her pics).
One of her mouthpieces (Fluttershy saying men are shit or something like that) catches some flak on DB, so she leaves (not before also getting into a slapfight with a DB mod over accusations of art theft), and declares DB to be a hive of scum of villainy, but rapidly turns all bronydom against her with anti-brony posts.
Enter Ted Anderson. From what I can see, Ted is this dumb foreveralone art guy who lives isolated in his room and is naive enough to buy into the Tumblr feminist cause. He reposts the occassional SJW link on his blog, starts to nuzzle against Cuteo, poses with her T-shirt (PS. selling shirts seems to be her main reason for being on the net…) but does not attract much attention until he puts her OC in a comic, and she of course is dumb enough to post it on her blog and gloat about it (“canon OC”), a clear provocation to many bronies who explode all over the IDW boards where Ted denies everything, then IMMEDIATELY flees to another pony board to rant about women’s rights and such. (I mean, he could have probably pretended he didn’t know and gotten away with it at that point still, but he really is fuckin’ stupid.) IDW apologizes on Ted’s behalf but also basically says “yeah we won’t fire somebody because some teens got angry”.
DB mods at the time generally think that not firing Ted sucks and have an animosity towards the IDW staff from that point on.

In general, both the comic and cartoon’s staff are hypocrites: whenever you express distaste for what they do, they shrugh that opinion off by claiming “It’s a cartoon/comic for little kids, it’s not for you, you are not part of the intended audience.”
But when they are invited to attend cons or asked to give interviews by people who are not little kids and so, not part of the intended audience, both comic and cartoon staff happily accept and bask on the attention they receive from the people they were shrugging off a moment before.
They are both guilty of goalpost moving to have their cake and eat it as well.
