I thought Rarity was the one that was based on Glory, not Coloratura?

Yes, Rarity was inspired by Glory. But for some reason, Coloratura bears an unusually strong resemblance to Glory. Oddly enough, both Ponies seem to be good friends with AJ. I’m beginning to think that Glory basically split into two distinct characters in the transition to G4. Rarity with Glory’s personality and race, Coloratura with Glory’s colours.

I think “Rares” is the canonical one. Rara or Rarara are fan nicknames.

Dude, I’m pretty sure that I’m some sort of mega-hipster in this fandom.
 
I was a (closet) fan of Sunset Shimmer the very day she was revealed.  
And for the record, this was before she was confirmed to maker her debut in the first EQG movie

Okay, so I wasn’t amazed with her appearance in the first EQG movie, but that somehow didn’t deter me from losing interest in her. Fanon Sunset, on the other hand, was what kept me interested in her. Plus there was this really great Sunset Shimmer fanfic - Sunset of Time - that I loved reading, and it’s now one of my favorite MLP fanfics of all time.
 
And then Rainbow Rocks came out, and I fell in love with Sunset all over again.  
Now I’m an open and dedicated fan of Sunset on both fanon and canon *terms.*
 
I’m still pretty fond of Rainbow Dash (she’s still best pony for me).  
But Sunset these days is pretty damn close to outright dethroning her given status in my book.
 
Honestly, I should just go and declare Sunset as best pony.  
_{If only my loyalty (heh) to Dashie wasn’t so conflicting in going through with that decision.}
