I had hoped that it would lead to more interaction between Spike and the CMC, since they’re closer to his age and all. We got a little bit of that in Just for Sidekicks, but then… nothing.

I still haven’t seen the X-Mas episode (didn’t want to watch before the holidays and then I simply went on neglecting to get around to it), but from the fanart, I feel sad that the Pie sisters ended up being Tsundere and Moeblob.

Holy crap, I just realized… With horseshoes, and bucks, punches and kicks can be pretty darn intense, maybe even deadly in pony world.

Anti-social season 1 Twilight, basically. Pre season 1, even. Avoiding people makes you less prone to learn to assert or manipulate around them, or even feel comfortable for that matter.

Pre-season 1 Twilight wasn’t like that at all. She was anti-social, yeah, but more bitterly sarcastic than reserved. She didn’t want to make friends because she thought it wasn’t necessary for her life’s work, not because she was quiet or timid. Far from it, actually. Twilight wasn’t awkward in the exact way that Sci-Twi was.
 
Think Moondancer, that’s basically the exact path Twilight Sparkle was going down if she had never made friends.

Might’ve acted similarly if blackmailed into a big social event, though. I think a lot of that confidence was born of her feeling in control over herself and her life. Not so in human Twi’s case.
 
Eh, it’s certainly arguable, though, and overall she undoubtedly, for whatever reason, was timid.
 
I kinda like that, though. I wish I were a bit more gentle.

I guess it’s possible, but I remember no real indication of lacking any sort of confidence in social situations from pony Twilight from the early episodes. She just chose not to bother, from what I remember.
 
My beef with Sci-Twi is that it kinda discredits that character, as the Humane Six in the EqG films all feel like human copies of their pony counterparts as they were in S1… except Twilight. It’s like they took Fluttershy, put her in a Twilight suit, made her book smart like Twilight, and called it a day.
 
Don’t get me wrong, I still love Fluttershy (and all the other moeblob characters in the show, I have no shame), but even I gotta admit it’s a bit unnecessary to make a Twilight counterpart with that personality type added in.

Episode 1 Twi did seem a little shy and softly let down the other ponies in declining Moondancer’s party.
 
At least she was somewhat awkward, and that led to her speech failure. And she usually is kind of unsure and all around authority, so her asking where to sign in wasn’t too far off. But then the other people got mad at her and annoyed with her speech and it was just downhill from there.
 
…Then there was being weirded out at everyone knowing her name and her dog’s name.
 
Given the circumstances, I think I’d be kinda shy, too.
 
Then again, I was quite a recluse in high school, as well…
 
But I can see where you’re coming from. It was kinda funny and cute when Flutters gave her that bunny to hold, but their similarity also means a lack of potential diversity.
 
But her differences were significant. Fluttershy wouldn’t have asked where to sign in, would’ve just quietly gone to the back of the line. Wouldn’t have given that honest analysis in place of a prep speech, would’ve just gone “Yeah. Sure.” to just agree. Also definitely wouldn’t have started chasing science into the school with the detector thing.
 
So, leaning to Flutters, yeah, but definitely still Twilight.

S1 Twilight was asocial, not anti-social. There’s a huge difference.
